However, Bal Gangadhar Tilak is the one who conferred the premier status to this idol.

Kesari Wada Ganpati

The Kesari Wada Ganpati is the fifth among the manache Ganpati in Pune city. Lokmanya Tilak himself installed this Ganpati in 1894 at Vinchurkar Wada, which was the ancestral home of the Tilaks. In 1905, it was moved to Gaikwad Wada, known as Kesariwada and hence the name. The unique feature of this mandal is that it has two idols wherein one is permanent, and the other is installed new every year.

Besides, the immersion process is done in a palanquin. Besides this, Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati holds a special mention despite not being in manache Ganpati. Located in Budhwar Peth, it is visited by thousands of pilgrims and is most celebrated. Every year the mandal boasts a unique theme, and Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust is one of the wealthiest temples in Maharashtra.
